Centre Staff are officially ACE!!

Kingdom Shopping Centre team first in Scotland to scoop UK national customer service award. March 2010.

Kingdom Centre staff celebrating ACE customer service award

The team at the Kingdom Centre are celebrating their outstanding win of a prestigious customer service award from the British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC). The Kingdom Centre is the first Scottish Centre to have achieved the accolade.

The Achieving Customer Excellence or 'ACE' awards have been running since 2006 to reward the dedication, innovation and inspiration that define great examples of customer care within the shopping centre industry.

Short-listed centres were selected following a series of visits to each by an accredited mystery shopping company during both busy and quiet periods. The rigorous audit took into account a range of personnel factors, as well as facilities. The short-listed destinations then received a further visit by judges from the ACE Awards Jury.

Award winners were announced at BCSC's Shopping Centre Management Conference that took place in Bournemouth from 1 - 3 March. The awards were presented to the highest scoring centres for different size categories, with only 4 winners in total.

Michael Green, BCSC Chief Executive, said: BCSC is dedicated to encouraging the improvement of customer service in our industry. All this year's winners of the ACE awards proved to be outstanding, and we hope that centres and others take inspiration from these awards and continue to bring new standards across our industry to customer service.

Robert Winter, Kingdom Shopping Centre Manager commented: We would like to congratulate all Kingdom Centre Security, Housekeeping, Customer Service and Car Parking members of staff. They have truly delivered an excellent level of customer care as proved by this award and we are very proud of their efforts in serving the customers of the Kingdom Centre.

Kingdom Shopping Centre wins Green Business Fife Award 2009

Kingdom Shopping Centre wins Green Business Fife Award

The Kingdom Shopping Centre picked up the accolade for 'Energy Reduction' at the recent inaugural Green Business Fife Awards ceremony.

The Centre achieved the award in that category due to the substantial reductions in gas and electricity consumption at the Centre over the past 3 years, which have led to their carbon footprint being reduced by over 40%.

The Green Business Fife Awards were introduced this year to recognise and reward the environmental achievements made by companies of all sizes operating in Fife during the past 2 years.

The Awards were judged by independent experts in environmental and business good practice, who visited the Centre to verify the information submitted. On the night the awards were presented by acclaimed environmental commentator and chair of the Sustainable Development Commission, Jonathon Porritt.

The Kingdom Centre was also short-listed for the Recycling award category.

Kingdom Shopping Centre Become Green Hero!

Kingdom Shopping Centre becomes Green Hero

The Kingdom Shopping Centre has been presented with their Green Heroes 2009 Wall Shield in recognition of their environmental programme.

The trophy was presented by top botanist and TV personality Professor David Bellamy OBE and Warren Edmondson of Nettoyer Media, aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh, on 13th February.

The Shields are awarded annually in recognition of companies, councils and communities carrying out projects that enhance environment, that wish to share their experience and knowledge with the world.

The judges commented: "In times of financial uncertainty, many organisations would reduce their investment in environmental issues. Kingdom clearly demonstrates the error that would be. In their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint they have knocked 60% off their gas bill, 25% off electric and almost 20% of water. Improving their recycling efforts makes a further saving."

The award-winning project will be featured in the next Green Book, the worlds only work of reference on environmental best practice, and they also won a Green Apple Award presented in November during a special prizegiving ceremony at the House of Commons.

The Green Apple Awards campaign is run by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-profit organisation that recognises, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world.

Their supporters include the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and various other professional bodies.

National Organiser Roger Wolens commented:  "Organisations that go the extra mile and become Green Heroes are demonstrating a serious commitment to the world around them. They invest in a better future for us all and deserve to be recognised for their efforts."

Scottish Business in the Community Rewards the Kingdom Shopping Centre for Best Practice for third year in a row!

The Kingdom Shopping Centre once again demonstrated their leadership in corporate responsibility at Scottish Business in the Community's (SBC) annual awards ceremony held in Glasgow on Thursday 5th June 2008. The Awards for Excellence reward companies with a coveted 'Big Tick' for the positive impact their responsible business activities have in the marketplace, the workplace, the environment or in the community. They are the most rigorous awards in corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The Kingdom Shopping Centre received a re-accreditation of their 'Big Tick' in the BUPA Healthy Communities award category, it is the third time that the Centre has received this award in recognition of their support of the local community and successful partnership work with Fife Police, NHS Fife and Fife Shopmobility.

The Kingdom Shopping Centre, owned by the Co-operative Insurance Society Limited, was also the first business in Scotland in January 2006 to achieve the Community Mark award, was declared 'Shopping Location of the Year' at the Scottish Retail Awards in November 2006, and was the 1st Shopping Centre to receive the Scottish Business Crime Centre's Safer Shopping Award in 2007.
